Esther W. Y. Lok brings to BAC more than 15 years of experience in nonprofit management, strategic planning, operations, and program development. Before joining BAC in July 2020, Esther served as Chief of Staff at Start Treatment and Recovery Centers and Sheltering Arms Children and Family Services. During her 9-year tenure at FPWA, she authored numerous testimonies urging the city and state government to invest in health and human services, including HIV prevention in communities of color, health homes, and mental health services for children, runaway and homeless youth, and the elderly.
In 2015, she was appointed by the New York State Health Commissioner to serve on NYS HIV Advisory Body and chaired the Emerging Issues Committee. She was instrumental in the development of the Access Health NYC Initiative, which has received funding from the New York City Council since the fiscal year 2016. Esther is a member of the Board of Directors of the National Working Positive Coalition and chairs the Development Working Group.
She received her Master’s degree in Public Administration from Baruch College, City University of New York, and a Master’s degree in Education from the University of Manchester in the United Kingdom. She is also a certified Project Management Professional.
